Last year my friend Ross Murray asked me if I wanted to be a contributor on a book for LGBTQ+ teens that are also Christian. After a year of waiting, I’m glad to finally be able to promote two new books: Queerfully and Wonderfully Made: A Guide for LGBTQ+ Christian Teens, and Welcoming and Affirming: A Guide to Supporting and Working With LGBTQ+ Youth.

Being a part of the creation of these books is a full-circle moment for me. I was that confused teen that was told I was something God abhorred; that my sexuality was perverse and I was an abomination.

I was ordained at 21 into seven years of hell. The hiding, shame, and spiritual abuse took almost 10 years to weed through and heal from. I hope these books will help some queer youth avoid what I went through.

You can read more about the book and order a copy HERE or click the images below.

On a related note, I’ve recorded the first song for my album Brown Liquor and Blessed Oil. This album will have a mix of musical themes and ideas with a few full songs. The idea and title is inspired by my upbringing.

I was raised around folks that smoked, drank and sang a lot. The nights were fueled by Motown and Stax records with the ever-present aroma of Jim Bean and Kool cigarettes in the air. It was not the best environment for a child, but It was alive and fun, and then, all of a sudden…everyone got saved and I was thrust into church life.

The track I’m sharing “Play The Game” is about my life in the church. It is sung by my brilliant friend Nhojj.

Now…this is a first draft and not mastered so be NICE!
